My undergraduate student just published her midterm essay for the
Introduction to African Studies class. I promised the students that any
paper that is published will be awarded a bonus grade for the midterm.

I think it's great that you're encouraging your undergrad students to aim for publication. Just wanted to say that. I'll come back later to read the actual article.
Okay, I'm back. Great article on a tough issue. I like Hutchinson's approach to reparations. We've seen the damage 'money' can do in the wrong hands. Congrats to both student and teacher!

Thanks Chi-Chi. Let us hope that the powers that be will listen to reason and start the process of reparations. Sure, it is not all about money but money will still be a part of the total package as I argued in my documentary, 'Reparative Justice' and a chapter of the same title in Pan African Issues in Crime and Justice. The total DREAM package will include Democratization, Repayments, Education, Apology, and Mobility.
